BDI Eligibility Requirements
After receiving a traffic violation, the Michigan Department of State (DOS) will notify you by mail if you are eligible to take a Basic Driver Improvement Course (BDIC). By passing a BDIC, drivers are given the opportunity to avoid points on their records and increases in insurance premiums. Drivers can only use BDI Courses to avoid points on their driving record once.
